Truancy Court Judges volunteer to serve the public schools in Durham on a regular basis throughout the school year.

 

During truancy court, judges educate parents and students on the North Carolina’s attendance laws and consequences for violation of those laws. 

 

They assist in identifying the underlying cause of truancy, motivate students and parents to prioritize education and facilitate the development of a plan to remedy truancy.
